Beaufort, SC - October 13, 2006

A group of private and public investors have invested approximately $1 million in South Carolina based Digitalsmiths, the leader in web-based video archiving, according to Ben Weinberger, CEO.

Dick Stewart, Chairman of the Board of Directors said that Digitalsmiths has all of the essential requirements for a good investment. “The company has proven expandable products, and has consistently generated revenue growth and profitability.” Stewart said. “Digitalsmiths is poised for explosive growth in the video recognition and ad placement space and for continued profitability with the current products. We are looking forward to watching this exciting company grow.”

According to Weinberger, the infusion of capital, which includes $200,000 from SCLaunch!, a new state-affiliated program to help accelerate the growth of technology in SC, comes at a unique timing for the explosion of searchable video content on the Internet.

“Digitalsmiths now has a tremendous opportunity to become the industry standard for quickly archiving, cataloging, searching and retrieving television show and feature film video,” Weinberger said. “These funds will be used to expand sales efforts and add personnel to enhance our core technologies and products for new markets that will provide additional revenue streams for our customers.”

Founded in 1998 as an Internet based software development company, Digitalsmiths capitalized on an opportunity in the entertainment industry in 2001 when it introduced a proprietary technology platform. The software platform, Media Access Pro®, facilitates searching and indexing scenes from television shows and feature films. Weinberger said Media Access Pro® is being enhanced to provide even more increased functions and customer revenues.

Media Access Pro® was first used for the popular TV shows “Just Shoot Me” and “Seinfeld.” Since then the company has broadened its reach to include film studios such as Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures and current on-air television programs like the top-ranked Monday night comedy, “Two and a Half Men.”

Most recently Digitalsmiths enhanced its core product by adding new features that allows a company with multiple films or television series, like Harry Potter, to search its digitized and indexed archive of materials individually or all at one time.
